On Thursday 4 June 2026, school staff from across Greater Sydney came together at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre to receive training and updates from DE International, and to share best practice in supporting the delivery of high-quality international student programs in NSW Government schools.
The training provided staff with updates on key aspects of enrolling, monitoring and supporting international students, ensuring schools remain compliant with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act and the National Code. Participants also took part in practical workshops and discussions focused on enhancing the international student experience and fostering student wellbeing and success.
The event featured a range of guest presenters who shared best practice approaches to supporting international students and creating welcoming, inclusive school communities. A keynote presentation by Shani Raja, former Wall Street Journal editor, explored the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The session examined emerging opportunities and challenges for schools, providing staff with valuable insights into how AI is shaping teaching, learning and student engagement.
A further highlight of the day was the participation of NSW Government Schools International Student Ambassadors: Andrea Ha, Bella Zhou, Enning Li, Lucy Wu, Luke Liu, Jack Li and Marcelo Zeng. The ambassadors reflected on their recent school engagement initiatives, sharing how these opportunities have strengthened their ability to support and guide other international students.
